Do some number combinations have better odds?
I thought that's what you meant when you started this thread over six months ago. We agreed 98,280 QPs have the same odds as a group of 28 numbers and distinguished how the odds changed only when both matched five numbers. On page 5 you said The objective is to at least TRY to hit to a JP. and I have no idea why the discussion drifted from that goal.

But first of all I still don't know what mean you are referring to. You keep saying the mean, but not specifiying the mean what. Like the mean sum, the mean number of 5/5 wins , etc. And while everything you said is possible, that doesn't make them probable, nor does it mean that you can average better than the odds dictate. You, of course, can win, but cannot consistently win in the long term. So that means the average will not be better than the odds state.

No, he wasn't mistaken, I have found a way to increase the return on specifically the New Jersey Cash 5 to about 80 cents per dollar. (I didn't do the math, it may be closer to 75 cents/dollar.) Although he didn't describe the process, so let me be clear, IT DOES NOT CHANGE THE ODDS OF WINNING. It does, however, help you win more in states which have pari-mutual prizes. It can very slightly help you in other states as long as the JP is progressive on the game your playing. It won't help at all a

Mega Millions
It gets even better, Ohio also has Rolling Cash5 with a jackpot of $541K with odds of 1:.6M which I may play instead.

Is it really possible to achieve this with pick 3 and pick 4 ?
heh, yeah, I got it done and copied it over real quick before the little guy got home. I was thinking of adding a +/- toggle for each position. That way the user could decide to +/-/both each position and play what worked for them. I ran various sets and it's bad odds to always expect + or -. There's typically a combination of + or - for each position. Getting all + or all - seems to be about the same odds as hitting doubles.

Who has read Nate Silver's book about prediction science?
Without ever reading the book, I know that some predictions will be correct because even randomly picked combinations are correct about as often as the odds on the play slips predict.

I also don't see using wheels as worthless. They don't change your expected return, but manipulate the odds of having overlapping prizes, changing the variance. Like I said before, I play for fun. Every once in a while there's a high jackpot I'm willing to put 10 bucks on. That's when I pick my own numbers and use a wheel. Not because it changes my odds of winning, but b/c it's more fun and can slightly help my EV, by picking combos less picked by self pick players.

Has Anyone Ever Won by Buying Just One Line/One Ticket?
I understand that a person can't create a system that beats randomness without actually removing the randomness of the whole thing which would involve manipulation of the physical device used to create the random number. Systems are created to match the randomly drawn numbers even if the system is buying a QP at 3:27 PM the day of the drawing. Overtime the random drawing statistics will show a bias where some numbers are drawn more than others and groups of numbers are drawn more than other
