PA's $50 ticket coming 12/27-12/28Reply
I bought one today, and won $75, but I will not be buying one again. I assumed the overall odds for a $50 ticket would be below 2.9X, but the overall odds for this ticket are 3.69, which is totally inexcusable and just greedy from the PA lottery. Odds for most $20 tickets are under 3.2.

Not only do odds deceive players, some use the deception to justify their bet. The usual payoff for $2 straight bets on a pick-3 number is $1000 and someone could call it an even money payoff because the odds against are 1000 to 1. Betting more has zero effect on the odds of winning, but can greatly effect the overall profit. A case can be made that buying 100 tickets for a game with 300 million outcomes lowers the odds to 3 million to 1, but usually the rest of the story is ignored. Without

Just wanted to clarify here, that this is not a Pick game (Pick 3, Pick 4, etc.) This is a Jackpot game with a 4/24 matrix, with odds of 1 in 10600. The odds are extremely attractive (to me at least) and the payout of $10,000, relative to odds, is fantastic.

Maybe it's because PB and MM raised the ticket price to $2 and players are comparing odds of what they could win for the same two bucks playing other games. At odds of 14,547 to 1, can win $200 matching 3 + 1 with MM or win $1000 at 1000 to 1 playing pick-3. The pick-4 odds are 10,000 to and a $2 straight bet gets $10,000. To win the same prize playing MM, we have to beat odds of 931,001 to 1. Obviously the $2 MM and PB tickets can win much more, but maybe more players are looking at the exp
