Buying More Than 1 Lottery Ticket Does Not Make Economic Sense Regardless Of The Jackpot Amount.
If the odds are the same but this method results in 45 second place winners, would that make this method better?

Do You Think That 1 Quick Pick Ticket Is Random Enough To Win A Mega Millions Or Powerball Jackpot?
Any combination is random enough to win, even a self-pick. The odds of it winning are not changed by its randomness.

Everyone on this board seems to cry about not winning enough, if everyone won all of the time then the states wouldnt have it. It is gambling, pure and simple, it is your choice to do it or not. The odds are always in the states favor period! I have had my fair share of winnings and slumps, but i continue to play because it is MY choice. So stop the crying game, you know right off the bat, when you look at the odds what you are dealing with. Dont bash the systems, it is all luck, plain and simpl

When was the last time you saw a multi-state lottery jackpot...
I think it was a mistake to change ticket prices. I think it was a good decision for the bottom line, and that's what it's about. The 5/16 $90 million drawing had sales of $28.536 million. The last comparable pre-increase drawing was for $91 million on 12/17, and that had sales of $28.355 million. That doesn't increase the bottom line by a meaningful amount, but they aren't losing money. Other drawings have had sales that are 10 to 15% higher than comparable pre-increase drawings. Statistic

Lotto odds and hitting the big one
I just bought 10 lines for 10 draws and I'm having buyers remorse (even though Im a rich 1%'er) considering my odds on MM are 175 million to 1. I think I can handle 4 lines per 10 draws and feel ok, $40 every 5 weeks is not too bad. In the meantime Im making plans for playing a scratcher game @ 4.8 million to 1 odds for a smaller grand prize.

48 Philly transit workers win $172M Powerball jackpot
You guys seem to be missing the point concerning why the majority of people take a chance against astronomical odds playing jackpot lottery games. Sure, I have played and continue to play the Illinois Daily lottery game from time to time (when the jackpot is at least 4 times the starting minimum). If I won that, would it be lifechanging? No, but I see the odds are better and I, of course, would not turn down any amount of lottery winnings. I also continue to play the Illinois state Lottery via s

Calculating odds for a subset of numbers
Pct = Percent of times this super set has jackpot winning combo (0.75 or 75%) Odds = Num * Pct / Set Simple and I think I think these are the right odds. And I think you meant Odds = (Num / Pct ) / Set Or 266666 = (200000/.75) / 1 Thanks!

Pfftt...I've had the odds explained to me once by some lottery employee. As soon as I read through it I thought yeah, yeah, typical lottery double-speak and smoke and mirror tactics. They talk in circles so I can't help think they do things the same way. They're posting odds out of the whole printing. That's, here in PA anyway, 6 to 7 million tickets per game. Sad state of affairs when you have odds of 1:3.1 and the lottery is sitting back laughing at the people who believe that by b

Odds of 33 in next MM drawing
I don't have any 33's in my QPs so the odds of it falling are pretty good.
