Thanks for the tip lottolaughs. Odds of 1: 1,330 are sure a lot better than 1: 575,757.

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
I believe the point of it was to illustrate that the odds are still long even at that grand scale. You misunderstand what he's saying. He doesn't believe that buying 175,000 tickets gives you odds of 1 in 1000.

Odds on Misinformation
Absolutely not! You assume something to be a fact that you do not know. I think of MegaMillions as two lotteries, a 5/56 with 3,819,816 possible combination and a 1/46 with 46 possible combinations. The odds of hitting them both on one ticket are 1: 175,711,536. While the odds of any two combinations that have hit together ever hitting together again are unlikey, the odds of combinations repeating in one of the two games are very likely. The megaballs are always repeating and I suspect one

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
I don't know. I'm terrible at math. I just think its kind of a common sense thing. Two is better than one, three is better than two...so on and so forth. I don't know by how much an extra ticket would increase your odds, and I don't even know where to begin to try to compute that, but it just seems like it would. Even if its a miniscule amount, an increase is an increase. I suppose you'd have to buy thousands of tickets to actually make a dent in the odds....but that still adds to the general th

Odds on Misinformation
garyo1954, Maybe we actually agree. The calculated odds of winning Mega Million Lotto are posted as 1 in 175,711,536. How we define arbitrarily categorize doesn't matter. The only category that matters is the able.one with 175,711,536 possibilities. Those are the real odds when you put down your $ or $$$. There are no camels, only 175,711,536 choices - each and every one is equally a probable winner.

New England states start new lottery game Thursday
anyone over 50 should avoid this game. although it will keep your spending in check to a degree,(opposed to getting a lump sum and not being able to handle it) the 2.00 price tag and the degree of difficulty in actually hitting it would steer older players away. better off playing a 2.00 pik 5 game(5 out of 35 for 200k) seems more appealing and the odds are only 325,00-1 as opposed to this outrageous odds likelihood. the new game novelty will lure in many and the 1000.00 a day for life sounds go

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
I've been lurking on this board for years, but this thread is what made me decide to get an account. I just wanted to add my 2 cents and say that yes technically buying more tickets will increase your odds, but when you talk about the big lotteries like MM and PB its not going to be by much. The average person buys maybe 5-10 lines every drawing. That person's odds is higher than the one who just bought one line, but the percentage is incredibly small. Even though I know this, I still buy at lea

Rhode Island woman, 81, claims $336 Million Powerball jackpot
Wouldn't it be cool if Louise White played and won again! Back to back wins....what are the odds?, or maybe I shouldn't be asking, less that turns into another long winded thread about weak Powerball odds
