It's a good bet when the odds against having the right combination is lower than the jackpot. The odds are always 175 million to one against having the right MM combo, but there are times when the jackpot exceeds $175 million. As for winning something at 1 chance in 40, it means 97.5% of the tickets sold are worthless. While I admire your optimism, out of 10 million tickets bought by optimistic players only 2.5 million will something and that something for majority of them will be $10 or less

i saw this info on a website also... it lists 10-17 instead of 10-18 and 50% odds, which makes sense, instead of the 90% you mentioned.

I think RJ has posted some lists of duplicate combinations for some of the state lotteries in the past. For lotteries with relatively low odds repeats become a virtual certainty after a while. I think one of th egames RJ may have listed if WV's cash 25, which currently has odds of only 1 in 177,100 and is played daily. If the game is 5 years old they'd have 1825 results covering more than 1% of the possible combinations. We could then expect that 1 out of every 100 future drawings would match
