Perhaps a better way to look at those odds for no digit returns up there is like this....
......for overall odds counting the doubles and trips ...as well as single numbers there is always a 34.3 percent chance that a no digit return will hit that day ...or about 1 n 3 chance each draw. That's counting doubles, trips, and singles together.
...for single to single numbers only ...... it's more like a 29% chance at a NO digit return that day.... pretty good odds if it has been

Betting styles are why players choose one game over another and that's why I gave a couple example of what could be done with $10. I've seen people hooked on pick-3 and wager $100 or more on one drawing when ever they can and some of the potential wins are in the thousands. They will probably lose in the long run even if the catch a number for $10,000 at the beginning because their next bets will be $200 or $300 with even higher win potentials.
Someone playing $10 or more on 5/39 pick-5 games

What "System"??
I'd like to have a dollar for every story I've heard about people who played the same numbers for a year, then changed them on the day their old numbers popped up. There's really no way to predict what balls will slide into the feed tube. That's how the states make money; they KNOW we can't develop any means to improve our chances of winning. In California, we had decent odds with the 6/49 game, but they 'claimed' people griped about the low jackpot amounts (It certainly wasn't me!) So they adde

A present to family that says if I win powerball, I'll give you X%. Does that work?
Coin Toss,
I have a question regarding your comment on the odds when you buy multiple tickets.
There is a game in Maryland that is called Multi Match
For $2 you play a line of 6 numbers and get an additional 2 lines of 6 numbers. You win the jackpot by matching all 6 numbers on one of the 3 lines.
On the Md website it lists the odds as follows:
The probability of winning the jackpot per line is 1 in 6,096,454 and the probability of winning per ticket (that is with the 2 addit

How You Could Make: $47 Million dollars in 10 years Playing the 4/5 of Pick5: Words of Encouragement
What are the odds of getting a 4/5
3387 to 1 in 5/39 games and the payoffs vary from $100 to $300. You can get 100 to 1 odds playing front pair, back pair, or outside pair in pick-3 and a $3 bet will get you $150 payoff.

Lucky and unlucky Scratch-off ticket numbers
It's number 5! If the odds are 1 in 3.49 then maybe buy up to 4 next time

RL,
Wow! My last posting must have really hit a nerve!
The odds do not in any way predict which set will be drawn. If I purchase all 575757 sets the odds for the game are still 1 in 575757 and don't change just because I purchased all the sets. Your logic may apply to some players and others it will not.
You have a strange understanding of probability. Probability does not apply differently to different people. Regardless of whether I have misinterpreted some of your long winded rambl

Hello!
Jimmy
Making a profit playing the state lottery and doing better than by random chance don't have to be the same thing.
In truth, I hardly know anything at all about Math, but I read somewhere that if a game such as the pick 3 has 1000 straight combinations and that if a person plays 1 number-line each draw, that in the very long run in average a person might win about 1 time straight for every 1000 draws played, so in 100 000 draws played a person might have won close to 100 tim

Let's say the last four nights of some state lottery's Pick-3 produced the following sequence:
2010/08/17 3 - 7 - 2
2010/08/18 4 - 1 - 3
2010/08/19 4 - 1 - 3
Now, the probability of 4-1-3 hitting 2 days in succession (Calculated on 8/17) was:
( 1 / 1,000 ) * ( 1 / 1,000 ) (One over one thousand - squared)
Which is ( 1 : 1,000,000 ) (One in a Million)
Now that this has happened, you have to make a choice.
Is 4-1-3 a reasonable choice for tommorows drawing?
MANY would ar
