Michigan scratchers.
I don't know all of them, but here's the ones I have been playing.
Quick 50s: ($1) Meh. Bad odds and small prizes. I like that there are so many 50 dollar prizes, but I have yet to win them and I must have bought about thirty of them. If I win, it's the one dollar prizes, which is hardly worth it.
500s fury: ($2) It was tempting at the time because of all the 500 dollar prizes (largest prize you can claim at the store), but based on a little math, I've concluded that out of ten stores, th

Predicting number patterns?
I look at past draws to anticipate LOL what patterns should happen next and thus pick my numbers accordingly. Even though I don't calculate what should happen versus what has actually happened.......in a sense I'm still factoring in the odds(maybe not as accurately) by choosing one pattern over another. I guess at some point you still have to look at the odds. The same thing goes for the numbers. If I choose one number over another because based on it's past performance I think it has a better c

Predicting number patterns?
knucklehead
when you use the words analize and anticipate you are implying that you want to base your selection on something other than a guess. what do you want to use as a selection criteria? if not odds and probability what would you use that is not merely a guess. its difficult to write a formula thats based on a guess. The human brain can take several bits of information combine them and arrive at a guess based on those bits. computers can't make that leap yet. computers are great at dig

Predicting number patterns?
Are you asking what odds are, or are you asking why anyone would bother with them?

How many of you feel discouraged when more states join PB or MM?
I have no objection at all to other states joining, but I do object vehemently to them jacking up the matrix to make the odds even more extreme!

Instant tickets - "Approximate overall odds of winning"
This is off of the back of an Illinois ticket ($2 in this case) but probably pertains to all states.
Verbatim:
Approximate ods of winning (including break even prizes) are: 1 in 4.52, $2-1 in 7.50, $3- 1 in 21.43, $5- 1in 50.00, $10-1 in 75.00, $20- 1 in 600.00, $40- 1 in 1,170.73, $100- 1 in 181.82
($100 is the top prize on this ticket)
My question is, it being a $2 ticket, what is the difference between a break even prize and the $2 prize? It's a $2 ticket and there is no prize low
