Great times for the UK lottery!
On the 31st Euro Millions are doing 25 1M Raffle winners + 81M Jackpot draw.
On the 1st of January the UK Lotto are doing a 200 winners raffle with 20,000 to each winner + 11.1M Jackpot draw.
I will be getting 2 tickets for each draw, I never play the UK lotto normally but I can't resist the 200 winners raffle.

Why Only Lotteries rather than Drawings?
I should have used the term Raffle instead of Drawing. I think many state lottery players would convert to a daily raffle with a guaranteed winner each day along with better odds:
Michigan state lottery: 1 in 10.7 Million chance to win $1 Million (no guaranteed winner)
Why not 2 daily raffles each with 600,000 raffle tickets at $2 each?: 1 in 600,000 chance to win $1 Million (guaranteed winner each day)
I think I'm missing something because I don't see why this type of game isn't being

Why can't our holiday raffle in my state be better?
Hi maringoman,
The PA raffle you described sounds great. That's what I wish our Mass lottery could be like. As I mentioned in my original post, 2 years ago we had a great raffle and I bought 2 tickets for it. It was exciting to wait for a few months wondering what if I actually could win something. Since then I just can't get excited about a 50/50 split. I don't blame you for not buying a raffle ticket in our state the payout is pretty bad. I haven't decided if I'm going to buy 1 ticket or no

State Raffles. What are your thoughts on them?
Most of the raffles are 625,000 $20 tickets and $6.25 million is divided by the players. It's usually four $1 milllion winners and several other smaller prize winners. In some states the tickets are sold out in less than two weeks and in some states the drawing date is extended because of lack of sales. In the passed I know the Ohio Lottery held their raffle on the announced date even though not all the tickets were sold and the advertized prizes were still the same.
Once any raffle gets pass

Do you see PB jackpots of $300 mil plus a fluke going forward with California joining in soon?
Thank you.
I agree, it's much easier to win one million dollars playing SM than playing PB. 3.8 million to 1 odds to win a million dollars is tough to find in an online one dollar per line game. I've looked at other state's lotteries websites, and I've yet see anything close to it.
The best thing I've seen has been a raffle held by The State of Connecticut. For the last two years, CT has been running a SuperDraw raffle twice per year, but it appears as if they wont be doing it this year.

Poll: raffle or scratcher
I have horrendous luck with scratchers so I would go with the Raffle.
Not that I've ever had good luck with a Raffle though either.
But over the years I've bought more scratchers than raffle tickets and never won jacksquat worth mentioning.

Powerball multi-state lottery to raise prices, jackpots
I also refused to spend that $20 they wanted for the Massachusetts raffle. Only half of the raffle tickets were sold meaning the lottery commission never made any profits on the raffle hahaha love that to death!
$2 a PB ticket? yeah I had said I would keep playing but now I've change my mind. I will stick to the season tickets of Megabucks (local 6/49) and megamillions. No scratch offs either. I've been spending close to $500 a year and havent won anything so I might as well cut down sharply

Ruling by Justice Dept. opens a door on online gambling
You're making a mountain out of a mole hill because the majority of sales in every state lottery including Tennessee are scratch-offs. If some players are worried about paying taxes or have a way of collecting their winnings without the IRS knowing, they'll continue to buy the online game tickets at their local stores.
I doubt interstate online ticket sales will drastically boost sales unless a lottery comes up with a must play game. The one area where I do see a potential is raffle tickets.

Wisconsin Lottery to hold Green Bay Packers raffle
Fans buying tickets in this year's Green Bay Packers Wisconsin Lottery game will take home a raffle entry rather than a scratch-off ticket.
Team and lottery officials Monday announced details of what they called the first-ever such game offered by a state lottery and NFL team.
For $2 a ticket starting Saturday at lottery outlets statewide, fans can buy a chance at four tickets to all Packers road games next season airfare and accommodations included.
Three raffle entries will cost $5.
