Same Lotto Numbers Come Up Sat and Sun
Of course people beat odds like this every time they win the lottery. If you analzye this situation, you see that there is a 50% chance of this occurring every 693,147 drawings. If 30 states (it may be more) have pick 3, one would expect to see this event with a 50% every 47 years. The laws of probability however predict that it could happen again tomorrow. Just because an event is improbable, does not mean it cannot occur. In fact, one of the most improbable events is being born. Ignoring the p

Same Lotto Numbers Come Up Sat and Sun
The odds of the same Oklahoma Pick 3 lottery numbers coming up two nights in a row are a million to one, but that's just what happened last weekend. The numbers 1-7-5 were selected at random both Saturday and Sunday night. We checked and double-checked all the procedures, and everything was done correctly. It was just one of those coincidences, Jim Scroggins, director of the Oklahoma Lottery Commission, said.University of Central Oklahoma mathematician Larry Lucas says that on any given day, the

OH Lot O'Play v PA Unlucky for Life
I looked at the Ohio Lottery website FAQ about Lot O Playhttp://www.ohiolottery.com/games/lotoplay/lotolay_qa.html We also lowered the odds to win the jackpot by more than half. They were 1 in 14 million in Super Lotto Plus, and are now 1 in 6.3 million with Lot 'O Play. But shouldn't it say.... We also increased the odds to win the jackpot by more than half. They were 1 in 14 million in Super Lotto Plus, and are now 1 in 6.3 million with Lot 'O Play. After all 1/6,300,000 is greater than

Lottery number strategies subject of newspaper investigation
Gee, it was a decidely negative article? Big surprise, huh? When they start out withIn sum: The lottery cannot be beaten. There is no system that can improve your chances of winning the lottery, period, says Mike Orkin, a California mathematician who has written extensively about gambling odds. ...that's kind of telling. And let's not forget, bumblebees cannot fly. That's a fact. Science says so. It's impossible. Therefore, every time you see a bumblebee, remember.....they beat the odds.

LOTTERY’S First-ever millionaire raffle
Doc- I agree that the prize payout would have grown tremedously. According to the website though- it was established that 500,000 was the limit. Once the rules are drawn up I dont think they are allowed to do an about face and change them after the tickets go on sale. Be it for the grandprize or the way they devy out the prize pool. Part of the enticement was the *odds* factor. Increasing tickets at this point would lower the odds... (PS- glad you bought a ticket!!May it be one of the winners!).

Biggest lottery flop of 2005
My personal opinion about why Ohio got rid of the Super Lotto Plus game is:The format of starting with a $4M jackpot had gotten costly and it just bad advertisement to reduce the jackpot starting size and claim the game has been improved which Ohio makes about every game change. I suspect that once everyone have seen the lousy format of Lot'O Play with a starting jackpot of $1M and $2 ticket price for a while, a 6/49 game with a starting jackpot of $1M and a $1 ticket price will be seen as a im
