if you could play any state lottery
I like the Cash 25 in West Virginia. Only 25 numbers. Odds of winning the $25,000 jackpot only 1 in 177,000 and they will pay up to 10 winners this amount. $250 for 5 numbers, $10 for 4/6 and $1 for 3 numbers. Good odds to win something each draw. Just a little too far for me to drive each week to play. I get to play a couple of times each year on my trip to Illinois. I do get to VA about once a month and I like the Cash 5 at .25 cents a play also.

CA=pari-mutuel prizes for MM
In my opinion, without the JP, there is no reason to play? If the point is to win money, there are casino games with better odds. I can get more consistency at blackjack or poker. If the point is to get a large return on the amount bet (e.g., $1 becomes $20,000), then I could see why some may play for the smaller prizes. I just do not understand how some players can drop $40, $70, or $100+ on each draw using a number system in attempts to beat the game. For some it seems it is their form

CA=pari-mutuel prizes for MM
Actually, I live in CA and only play the lottery for the jackpot. I really do not care about the smaller prizes and figure if I win something small, I am just getting a tax refund on the money I have put into the lottery over the years. I also only buy one $1 quickpick with the cash option per drawing, so I guess I am not the normal Lottery Post player, anyway! Yeah, the odds are slim, but if I am meant to win, then it does not matter if I play $1 or $1000 dollars - especially with the chang

Mega Millions challange 6/24/05
With the overall odds of winning something reduced to 1:40 from 1:43, there should be a few more $2 winners.RJOh

MM (new) v NY Lotto
They all have pros and cons. NY Lotto gets you 2 plays for only one buck, in a day when more games are becoming $2 for just one play. And for the odds, the jackpots grow to exciting levels (like now). Of course, like you've said, it only pays 40%, when such a payout would be illegal in a lot of other states. Mega Millions on the other hand obviously has much bigger jackpots, and an honest payout. But the odds, whew! And I'm sure with CA in now, we'll see even more winners then before, which mean
