Probability of Repeats, Subsequent Draws
WIN DAnd that is why I say if you can consistently do marginally better than the published odds in these big odds games for the 3's, 4's and 5's you're doing very well. Some of us know and have confirmed that some of the outrageous claims made by some promoters will not stand close scrutiny. You have a little pick at someone who's getting a bit too y now and then, that's all - if you tried to take them all on you'd go nuts. For the regular contributions you make I think you should be thanked for t

Probability of Repeats, Subsequent Draws
The probablity of a repeat in the next draw of a 6/49 game is the same as it would be for any six numbers combination having numbers in the next draw. 6 / 6 1 : 13983816 5 / 6 1 : 54201 4 / 6 1 : 1032 3 / 6 1 : 57 2 / 6 1 : 8 1 / 6 1 : 2The odds of a single number repeating in the next draw is 1:2, to get the odds of 2+ draws back divide the above odds by 2+. Powerball's Future.
As more and more states join, they will have to make it harder to win. I hope they never try to accomplish this by raising the cost of a ticket to $2. I think this is a mistake that some states make. There are many people who may not justify spending $1 on a ticket because they believe they have no chance of winning even when the jackpot gets above $200 million. If they won't spend a dollar they sure as heck won't spend $2. This may might hurt sales to the point where the jackpots actually could

Probability formula Independent events
The Multiplication Rule for Independent Events The Multiplication Rule for Independent Events states that if several dvents, A1, A2, ..., An, are independent, then P(A1 A2 ... An) = P(A1) * P(A2) * ... * P(An).What does this mean? 50/50Applied to coins, A1 can be the dvent of getting a heads on the first flip of the coin. A2 is the dvent of getting a heads on the second flip of the coin. An is the dvent of getting a heads on the nth flip of the coin. Since the probability of each dvent is 1/

Buying more tickets = reduced odds
Quote: Originally posted by Colin F on May 11, 2004So playing BobP's 164 Lines over 500 Draws in a 6/49 Lotto with a random selection of 28 tickets per draw the expected return is 15%; playing 164 the expected return is 18% because a 5 is expected. For Wisconsin he beat the odds and got 3 fives up giving a return around 24%.Colin,Was this a workout based on draw history, a computer model, or actual play? My hat goes off to anyone who can truly beat the odds, but I'm concerned with reality and ac

Buying more tickets = reduced odds
Quote: Originally posted by Jake649 on May 09, 2004In summary, buying 2 tickets doubles the probability of winning. Buying 3 tickets triples the probability of winning. Buying 4 tickets quadruples the probability of winning, etc.The purpose of this post is to prove that probabilities of winning increases with the number of tickets purchased. This is by no means meant to convince anyone that they should buy more tickets. Spend only what you can afford to lose.Jake,Your math is right, but I wouldn

Michigan man wins $1 million lottery jackpot twice
I am happy for this guy but how does he win a scratch-off game (totally dumb luck) twice with 1:623,000 odds and I can't win a PICK 5 with 1:169,000 odds just once and I am putting some thought and effort into the numbers I pick using a system????? Like I said I am very happy for those who win big money but it just gets so frustrating sometimes to see these people win and you know just about all of them put no effort into getting those numbers. They are just buying quick picks, scratch-offs, usi

Pick 3 System That Gaurantees a Hit
Thanks for the input Lantern. All i was saying in this thread was just verifying w/ kzdj to see if that was the system he/she used. I myself don't use that. Also, u mention to eliminate three digits in different positions. That wouldn't apply to what i'm talkin bout. I clearly stated boxed combos and was assuming kzdj was too. Either way, i was just guessing that kzdj was using what i mentioned and was saying that if it were the case, then it's not a consistently profitable system to use. These t

Buying more tickets = reduced odds
Let's cut to the chase.Buying more tickets and increasing your chances of winning orreducing your chances of losing should be a no-brainer (I love thatAmericanism) for this Forum; our most ardent critics do not have a problem with this so why some members here do strains my powers of comprehension. The real question is, Can the odds be reduced other than bybuying more Random Selection Tickets? I say YES, DA, JA, SI, OUI, HAI and whatever other language you care to use. What does my opposition say
