??WinForLife??
$1000 a week for life odds($52,000 a year for life) = 1 : 5,245,786. I think for a game with odds that high for the top prize should offer a prize a lot bigger than that. If I'm going to drive over to Kentucky, I'd much rather play Cash Ball. Here's Cash Ball's odds and payouts: KENTUCKY CASH BALL Match Prize Odds Per Play 4/33 1/31 Monday-Saturday $1 per play 4 of 4 1 $200,000 1:1,268,520 4 of 4 0 $2,000 1:42,284 3 of 4 1 $300 1:10,935 3 of 4 0 $50 1:365

Bingo anyone?
pumpi76 - Yep, I know. I was throwing out some figures I had worked out for a page on my web site a few years ago - thought they might be interesting, if not amusing. I was in a bingo parlor in a casino a couple of weekends ago as a casual observer. Every game they played there was different - I never saw just a straight, regular bingo game played. Games like Four Corners, Cover-All, Bingo the Hard Way (can't use the center free spot, etc.), and more. Each game, of course, has different od

Maryland Lottery raffle game sells fewer tickets than hoped
Countdown to Millions, Maryland's raffle-like lottery, didn't sell as many tickets as lottery officials had hoped, and the drawing was delayed one day to sell more. At $20 apiece, they were the most expensive tickets ever. The Maryland Lottery held its drawing Monday night for Countdown to Millions new game featuring the Maryland Lottery's best odds ever at winning $1 million. The lottery sold about 325,000 tickets, short of the lottery's 420,000-ticket goal, said lottery spokeswoman Carol

Let s try this explanation on for size: Game: Mega Millions Odds: 1: 175,711,536 I buy 1 ticket: I have 1 chance in 175,711,536 The odds of me winning are infinitesimal. I buy 2 tickets: I now have 2 chances in 175,711,536 My chances of winning have doubled. (I had one chance, now I have two.) The odds of me winning are still infinitesimal. I buy 3 tickets: I know have 3 chances in 175,711,536

Personal Numbers
None of those does a thing to increase your odds of winning. Here are the answers to help clarify: 1. For PB it's 1 in 3,478,761, exactly the same as the odds that those 5 numbers would have been drawn the first time, and exactly the same as the odds of *any* 5 numbers being drawn. The balls don't know they exist, let alone how often they've been drawn. 2. See above. 3. See above. 4. See above 5. See above, and plan on sharing with a lot of people. 6. See # 5. 7. see

MM's low sales
If the authorities did decide to change the game doubling the price of a ticket is probably a worse choice than changing the odds. The odds are already high enough that very few people take them seriously. Either you play or you don't. I don't expect many people would stop playing or even change their buying pattern much if the odds increased by 10 or 20%. Doubling the cost of aticket, OTOH, will probably result in a significant reduction in tickets sales to the people who aren't regular play

code breaking and the LOtto...
Quote: Originally posted by BobP on May 28, 2006 The problem is lottery numbers don't stand for anything, they are not a measure of anything, so there is no meaning behind their order to be worked out like there is with a code. They are pictures that happen to look like numbers. Because of this we can use some math to deal with their distribution. It helps to remember a 1 has no more or less value then a 49. There are patterns and those patterns can be slid up and down the scale. So even
