How does it make you feel when you check your lottery numbers, get excited that the first one matches winning number. Then the second matches the winning number. Then the third one matches. Then the fourth one matches the winning number. Heart starts pounding! Could this be my lucky day?! Then you see that the fifth and final number is not a match! Arrrrrggggghhh! Momentary "dangit, I was so close to winning 1.15 million dollars. Then thankful side chimes in saying, "well at least you won second place prize. Second place paid $200. Far cry from 1.15 million but I will take it and play another draw.

This will either be my season of agonizingly close calls or the long awaited breakthrough. I know the lottery is random, and getting close is not a sign that you will one day win. But you can't win if you don't play, so play on is what I will do.

Get MONEY!!! Winning a JACKPOT lottery is one MIRACLE I desire for 2019!!! NOW come to my subconscious mind you 6 winning numbers!

When we're one off on a Pick 3 or Pick 4 straight, we say the same thing. Even though it is on a smaller scale.

I've always felt when you haven't won for a while and you start getting real close, it's a sign that whatever you're doing is working and a winning steak is right around the corner. Stay positive and you'll get that BIG win!!!

Before you play there are 2 choices to make. Low sum or high sum and consecutive pair or no consecutive pair. Choose correctly and you go from 120 combos down to 30. Not a bad starting point.

I'm constantly 1 off on Pick 3.

I play Illinois' Luck Day Pick 5 (currently $1.5M) almost every day and have never hit 4.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I too felt the same way when I would win 4 out of 5 in the Fantasy 5 Florida game, but years later after I gained some experience, I realized that the the difference between getting five numbers correct and the jackpot had a huge gap, meaning the odds were literally in the tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands or so.

Nevertheless I learned two things from this. One is that it was very satisfying to see reality play out, on the other hand the old adage is still true today, basically with knowledge and power comes responsibility. The moral of the story to me means that it's easy to get disappointed but in the bigger picture, the long run, the knowledge is priceless.

I had 4/5 in mega Millions and the Mega Ball was on the next line!!! It was when the Jackpot was over $500 million in 2015. I won a grand total of $158. I still have a picture of it. Had the mega ball been on the same line it would have been worth 10K. Oh well!

It's always possible that I'm wrong~

But that's never at the top of my list of possibilities.

As someone that matched 5 out of 6 in a 6/49 lotto, 4 if 5 in PB, and several 4 of 5s in Ohio's 5/39 Rolling Cash 5, the thing that came to my mind is the huge difference in payoff by being one number off makes. The lotto win was about $900 compared to a $40 million jackpot. Got $500 on PB because I used Power Play and the RC5 paid $300 compared to a minimum $100,000.

We know the terrible odds before buying tickets and you're right, we won something and maybe next time it will be our time.

Here's another "CLOSE, BUT NO CIGAR"ticket. (I had posted this before)

The winning numbers for MM 12/30/14 were 3-7-44-63-67 MB 12

I had the Megaball on the first line, one of the 5 numbers on the second line and the other four numbers on the fourth line. All 6 numbers on the same ticket, but not on the same line!

Megaball win = $1

4 of 5 (white balls) = $500

Total win for ticket = $501, but if all the numbers were on the same line, it would have been $172,000,000

I bought a CT Cash5 ticket and of the 5 numbers, I had 1, but was one number off from matching the other four. 5 out of 5 pays $100,000.00

Anyone else come close like that?

Yes, I had the same situation, but mine was only a few numbers off not just one off like yours.

I'm pretty sure I posted the ticket here on lotterypost years ago. It was from a Florida Fantasy 5 ticket that I just bought using my own version of a quick pic LOL... Basically it's just filling out the BET slip as fast as you can without thinking about the numbers. Back then they had no caps for the Florida Fantasy 5 so I won $720 getting 4 out of 5, but now they have a cap of 555 bucks win..

I think the jackpot was about a hundred and seventy thousand or something like that. So yeah, I can feel your pain
