Okay, so here is what I did. I created a special directory containing only data files for all the lotteries which are currently drawing two-a-day. That's 28 lotteries. Then I threw out Iowa, because I know that Iowa has reported the draw results for Texas, Illinois and now Indiana. If I look for duplicate results, I will get 1,000,000 false positives from Iowa. That left 27 lotteries. So I pooled all the data from those. That totalled 233,000 lines of data. That's too many to work with. What to do? Ponder. Ponder. Made Coffee. Took out the trash. Checked mail. Hit on the idea to do them month by month. So I made a temp file and pulled in just the January data for all years for all 27 of the 2-a-day lotteries, about 20,000 lines. That I can work with. Then I hit the magic Find Duplicates button. Nothing. February. Same story. March. April. May. June. July - BANG! A duplicate line! I tracked it down. Big Disappointment. It turns out that Mr Fat Fingers here accidentally duplicated a line in the Puerto Rico data in July of 2020. I fixed the Puerto Rico data file and went on through each month to the bitter end without finding another duplicate.
Among the two-draw-a-day lotteries there has never been an instance where two lotteries drew exactly the same midday draw and evening draw on the same day. Never. Sorry...
Just for fun, it was the Delaware and Virginia draws that started all this, right? Both lotteries drew 585 in their midday draws. Delaware drew 252 in their evening draw. 252 is boxed in the Sync workup for Virginia today as *522. Could it happen? If it did, it would be the all-time Pick 3 coincidence to beat all coincidences and Rosco757 wins the prize for suggesting that I take a look. And, even if it doesn't happen tonight, I found and fixed the one duplicated line error I made in 233,000 lines of data. That's not too bad a record, honestly, and now it is fixed. 💪 Yay me!
