From what I gather. They will not bump it 50 million. After the jackpot is hit, the amount will reset to a base of $50 million. If the jackpot is still rolling after the drawing on April 4, 2025, it will continue to roll until it is hit, and will then reset to $50 million. And all they did to change the game was remove 1 mega ball. So the odds went from 1 and 24 to 1 and 23.07. This is just my opinion. But I think mega millions shot there selfs in the foot. So from what I just read. They increased the price. Removed on mega ball. And the jackpot starts at 50 now. But I don't imagine it go up 50 each draw.

The precious jackpot was won - 344M.

This is a new jackpot and has not been won.

So when this current jackpot is won, the new jackpot will be 50M.

I think that's how they will interpret it.

Don't think they will back date the rules to before the 5th of April.

Yes . Md lottery just posted the change. But I'm still curious if there gonna take a higher percentage in the "cash option " I did not see anything about that. This sucks. My state went to computer draw games. And now this. I'm all for a couple of dollars on a pipe dream. But 5. Seems a little to much. Super interested to see how it plays out. People where pretty p.o.ed in the MD lotterys facebook comments! 🤷🙄 And I find it super sketchy there not upping the 50 mill till after someone hits this jackpot. The day the tickets go up. Should be the day they pump the 50 mill into it.

If people don't play MM the jackpots won't be increasing as much due to low sales and PB sales will double. PB will then start having bigger jackpots and more winners.

Then eventually they will get greedy and raise the PB to $5 a ticket too. Mark my words.

When playing the lottery the one thing that should matter the most is: Are you winning more than you spend?

Yeah. I've been wondering that myself. Then, again, if PB sees MM losing sales because of the $5 cost, they may just keep it at $2. More people playing PB makes the jackpot grow faster.

I 150% get it. Everyone was up in arms when md went to computer draws. And here we are 2 years later. And computer draws are still bein played. And in all honesty I can see them trying to turn pb and mm into computer draw games in the future. Who knows at this point. These games i think could care less. What the people want. Im pretty mad at myself for constantly playing the same numbers. I kinda feel like I have to play. But I might do the same as you and 🗑 mega millions all together. And mabye think of a second powerball number to play. Or just pocket the 6 bucks per week. And wait till the jackpot gets to a billion. And buy extra tickets with the money that was saved. I do know one thing. I sure do miss paying a buck for a pipe dream. And I agree powerball will up there price to.

Thanks for the reminder Gr. Just went in and ripped up the unused MM slips. I won't need to see those things for the foreseeable future. I hadn't given the PB sales increase much of a thought but definitely an excellent point.

It crossed my mind that if loyal MM players don't like the new pricing, they could shift loyalty to PB.

For $5, one will get two PB tickets and $1 change.

That would then make the PB jackpot grow faster than the MM jackpot.

However, MM will always have a $30M head start when the jackpots reset.

PB may counter that by returning to the $40M starting jackpot before the pandemic.

Of course all these arguments and thoughts are hypothetical and the truth shall be known once the changes happen.

Also, historically, people have been known to say one thing and do the opposite. Like for example say, "I will never play MM again" but then be in line to try out the new possibilities 🤣🤣

I play mm twice a month now. So I will decease to once a month when it increases to $5.

Speaking of the starting jackpot. What ever happened there.? I remember they pulled that stunt. If I recall correctly. They dropped it to 20 million starting because of the plandemic. Did they switch it back? Or still the same? Seems the jackpots take longer to get bigger. And I wonder if they sold more then 20 million where did that denero go!?

I have to disagree with you. Thise thaty run MM already know that going to $5 has already caused a lot of controversy (don;t be sur[prised if they monirot LP) and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't pull a bush leagues stunt like that this toime around.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I plan on playing three sets of self selected numbers Friday April 4th to close out the current ticket price. Then I plan to play 2 sets of QP's Tuesday to commence the new payout structure. If the current jackpot after the price increase isn't at least 50m I'll hold my money until it reaches that amount.
