Canada couple loses out on $1.64M jackpot
Did we read the same article? Here's what it said in the one I read: While the Clancys regularly contributed when jackpots exceeded $10 million, they had stopped going to the club and weren't present when money was collected for the Nov. 23, 2007, draw. They were contributing to the cost of tickets, but didn't pay ahead of time for that particular drawing. If they weren't there when money was collected for previous drawings but contibuted their share for (losing) tickets after the fact I

Minnesota Lottery suspended during government shutdown
I think we're misunderstanding exactly what happened. The lottery wasn't shut down to save money; it wasn't shut down because of a lack of funds. It was shut down due to failure to pass a budget. The US Constitution says that money cannot be spent from the national treasury unless it's appropriated by Congress. It's likely that every state constitution has a similar provision that only the legislature can authorize spending money. The immediate problem isn't that the money isn't there, but that

Only one scratch off in TN has NO 3-letter codes. Why is that?
That is interesting. Of course as you know the codes are to I.D. a winner. I doubt it was printed by a different company since TEL has a contract with a ticket printing company. There may have been a printing glitch which cased them NOT to print letters on this particular ticket. (Not saying the tickets are flawed) OR... This could be a new evolution. Although the newer tickets have them... they still may have been printed before Bonanza. Lottery officials vote on logistics each quarter and orde

$218 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot increased
The winner has a contract with the states to pay the annual prize payment, no matter what happens to the securities. That's a red flag in my book. I don't like the government's track record with handling money and I don't have complete faith in their guarantees as of late. Especially with a chief executive as unstable as the one we have now and state legislatures similarly comprised. When they declare a national or state emergency and suspend all obligations I don't intend to be under

post if you have purchased a roll of scratch-off's
You are so right James1, All sports scratch offs are the worst rip off. I took my chance at Orlando Magic too and got nuthin. I'm boycotting NFL this year if they don't go on strike, I'll only be watching College sports. Go Kentucky for FINAL FOUR I keep thinking, if only I took all that money I spent on 5.00 sports tickets and bought Spectacular or a 20.00 ticket instead. Plus, stupid NFL, they pay their players Millions, Owners make billinons and their lousy 5.00 ticket is only worth 100,0

Iowa Lottery upgrading retailer systems
Iowa Lottery officials are ready to roll out a new computer system in April at 2,400 retail sites in hopes that it will boost sales of popular games such as Powerball and Mega Millions and reduce crime. The first new system in a decade will offer Iowa Lottery customers the promise of speedier service and a reduced chance of being cheated out of a jackpot by unscrupulous retail clerks, state officials said. For die-hard lottery players, and thousands of Iowans fall into this category, the b

Estranged husband of N.Y. Lottery winner to sue for his share
If the situation was reversed and it has been, the women would scream for the mother to get the money. Women have been divorced for years and have been awarded half by the state. In my heart, I believe a lot of women hate men. Remember, men are your sons, brothers and fathers. Men are the same species as you and only differ a litte. Men and women are the 2 halves of a whole and when mating form the beast with 2 backs. If you don't want to share your life, don't marry. If you do marry, it is a
