Glitches with new D.C. Lottery system prompt complaints, long lines
.......run by the same operators for 27 years.
A new lottery contract was awarded last year to Intralot after a contentious procurement process during which Mr. Bailey, who heads Veterans Services Corp. (VSC), became a 51 percent partner. That process is now being investigated by the D.C. inspector general's office.
Since its inception in 1983, the D.C. Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board in Anacostia housed the computer server that communicated with lottery terminals in retail

My Follow-Up Numbers
Girl I know how some people can really rub you the wrong way on here. Probably why I don't really post like that anymore. But continue to do what you do best. It's obvious that what you do is so very important to other members here.
Seems as if they fail to understand, we only do this because we want to be helpful in some way to the other members here. We didn't sign any contract making us obligated to do this for free, or we aren't getting paid to do it. Sometimes the ones we help don't eve

Decision on privatizing Illinois Lottery 'within days'
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn could select a private firm to manage the Illinois State Lottery as soon as next week, but some lawmakers would rather keep the lottery under state government.
Two bidders are vying for the right to privately manage the Illinois State Lottery. Earlier this week at a public hearing held in Chicago, the Northstar Lottery Group and the Camelot Group both presented their proposals to a state commission.
The Northstar Lottery Group is a combination of three different com

Should illegal immigrants be able to claim lottery prizes?
That's right Rosie and I'll tell you what we need: legal contracts.
When a politician running for office makes a campaign promise it should be entered on a contract and signed by the politician. If he or she then breaks that promise while in office (like Obama just did by allowing the allocation of funds for federally funded abortions when he promised he wouldn't and even signed an executive order saying he wouldn't), they should be thrown out of office.
Where's that Charlie Stupak group o

Lottery winner doesn't have to share
There has to be a little bit more to it than the AP account.
Most likely that the argument led the plaintiff to stop contributing to the purchase of the community tickets in which case I would agree with the ruling.
Otherwise, I don't understand how an argument could render a signed and notarized contract null and void.
It's a shame that money can cause a rift like this between two sisters at that age.

Indiana man says store cost him $11.5M lottery jackpot
A 70-year-old retired chemist is suing a convenience store chain for more than $11.5 million, claiming its employees cheated him out of a large jackpot by refusing to sell him a lottery ticket.
Charles Andrews says in his lawsuit that he picked the winning numbers for the February 2008 Hoosier Lotto drawing, but that a clerk at a Speedway store in Indianapolis refused to sell him a ticket with a few minutes left before the 10:40 p.m. official sales cutoff.
Andrews, of Indianapolis, says th

Sisters' lottery jackpot trial begins today
Alone and DENY, DENY, DENY!!!!!
Since the sisters had a written contract how would you legally break it? Could one have notified the other or would both parties have to agree?
I agree with others....play alone and keep silent about it. Nothing like winning a large sum of money only to have someone come forward and claim it's theirs too.

Arkansas Lottery will add raffle games to lineup
The Arkansas Lottery Commission voted yesterday to authorize the introduction of raffle games during the 2010-2011 fiscal year.
The lottery plans to hold two raffles during the fiscal year, the first of which will launch in July or August, Lottery Director Ernie Passailaigue said.
Passailaigue said the games will be similar to raffles held by civic clubs. The lottery will have a set number of tickets printed, each with a unique number, and the winning numbers will be selected in a drawing,
