Newspaper editorial in favor of authentic lottery drawings
Rebecca Hargrove does not have to have every TV station in Tennessee record the live drawings they can have one station record the drawing and have the other stations use a little pop up window and display the drawing numbers. This opens up and opportunity for certain TV stations to bid on whom will record the live drawing. After reviewing the bids she could negotiate a contract with them for x amount of years and at the end of the term run another bidding war. I thought she was creative en

Contractors steal $70,000 in lottery prize money
Computer system breached; technicians printed bogus tickets, investigators allege D.C. officials were told last year that lax enforcement of security procedures made it possible for a handful of contract employees to steal tens of thousands of dollars in lottery tickets and prize money, according to records released this week in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed with the D.C. Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board. An investigation conducted by Battelle Memorial I

N.D. Lottery wrestles with credit card buying options
OK, here we go: Coin Toss, can you tell me why you think your chances are worse? I realize the odds change when even 1 number is added, but I kept my 6 numbers when FL changed from a 6/49 game to a 6/53 game and don't remember any announcements about advanced plays being invalid. Granted the odds are astronimical to begin with, but, the following would make an intereting court case. A lottery ticket is a contract, at least of sorts (I'm sure some legal breagle here on LP can expo

My $35Million
The more I think of this post.. the more I laugh.. I used to date a nut that sounded a lot like this guy. When we broke up and I later started dating my hubby.. this nut was telling me how I was letting millions slip through my fingers.. Well if he only knew how childish he sounded... not knowing one bit what I did walk into to... with no type of contract..lol

Should The Lottery Be Tax Free
So much of the lottery revenue goes to states and other government functions. Some use it to pay for education, others highways. Some even plan to contract out their lotteries to the private sector. And, if you are lucky enough to win, you get nailed for state and federal tax hits. Given that lump sum means you take the lumps, and taxes on top of that, wouldn't it be fair to just make the lottery tax free for winners? And, isn't government getting into a rather bad way to finance the

Tenn. players picked up on new odds before lottery revealed glitch
Now that's a little harsh. Of course it's for the children. What would you expect her to say? As far as a contract, it all depends on how they structured it; purchase or lease. Most likely they bought the equipment, like they have always done in the past with ball equipment. That means they can choose to do what they want. Ball machines are more expensive to maintain, and to go back would mean re-certifying all the equipment. It would take a little time... if they even still have it a

POLL 1 of 3: Computerized drawings vs. ball drawings
I am an Indiana resident who has played our state lottery since it's inception. We used to have a televised drawing, but no more. I was informed a few weeks ago that we had gone to the computerized drawing. Though I'm not 100% sure of this, it seems to make sense. Indiana's lotto has never exceeded the $20 million dollar range, if I'm not mistaken, and now we're posting a $47 million jackpot. With the ball drawing the winning numbers were readily available, though winning tickets were not ann

Single winner in $314M Powerball lottery drawing
At the Circle K store on the corner of U.S. 231 and Chestnut Street in Crawfordsville, assistant manager Teresa Aguilar said she's noticed a steady increase in lottery sales throughout the week. I had about eight people on Wednesday tell me, 'If I win, I'll come back and get your name,' Aguilar said. That one is almost as old as The check is in the mail , but why get a stranger hopes up? It could be a binding contract, however simply getting a person name doesn't mean you're going to

selling a winning ticket
I am sure you could, but a company with $70 million probably wouldn't want to get involved because of the possible legal problems, although making a $5 million dollar profit for cashing in a ticket is a nice chunk of change. How would they pay you? If they paid you $70 million after tax that would mean they'd have to somehow claim you as an employee, a contractor, partner or vendor and pay additional taxes? Personally, I don't see anything morally wrong with this idea, but I wouldn't

The DE Lottery Web Site
I agree with you four4me. Lots of sites out there really don't care if their past history is correct or not. It's something I feel pretty strongly about -- maintaining a very accurate historical database. I'll go back and make changes -- if necessary -- no matter how far back the change is. There is data in the Lottery Post database going back to the 1970s, and if I find a wrong number back then, I'll still make the change. In fact, that is one of the major factors that caused me to get r
