Litigation Proofing your lottery pool
schmuckatelly, Here is my logic (Imay be wrong) I send copies to all for a few reasons. I could very well have made a mistake and I want that person to catch it . The title of the email reads check your names . That would mean 1 of 2 things. I lost the actual collection list and simply forgot them (remember it is maybe 1 or 2 of 4 turdheads) or they or myself are lying. Remember they are not to give me there $20 without seeing me check their name off the list. I also want them t

Arkansas Lottery partners with grocery chain on vending machines
An Ohio-based grocery store chain has signed a contract with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery to sell lottery tickets through vending machines. Lottery Director Ernie Passailaigue signed the agreement April 11 after the House Rules Committee declined to recommend passage of a Senate-approved bill that would bar the lottery from using the machines. The Arkansas lottery began selling tickets through the machines on Feb. 3 at a Love's Travel Stop in North Little Rock, and the machines have si

Updated Nov. 11, 2010, 5:58 pm: Additional detail about audit and findings, with quotations from Passailaigue An Arkansas state audit has revealed a variety of deficiencies in how the Arkansas lottery is being run, and one legislator told the lottery director he would be gone if he led any other state agency. ARKANSAS LOTTERY DRAWINGS TO BE COMPUTERIZED
Numerous polls show players do not trust computerized drawings Did Arkansas Lottery Commission hire the right team? Senator proposes bill scrapping the lottery Despite nearly universal player mistrust of computerized lottery drawings, the new Arkansas Lottery director made the inexplicable decision this week to forgo real mechanical lottery ball drawings, and use a computer program to select the winning numbers in the state's new lottery. The commission met at Philander Smith College

Drawing games will start later in the year The Arkansas Lottery Commission set official target dates Friday for the first lottery tickets to go on sale: Oct. 29 for instant-win, scratch-off tickets and Dec. 14 for tickets for drawing games. The commission also approved spending up to $30,000 to buy a car for newly hired executive director Ernie Passailaigue, who officially starts July 1 but has already been working to get Arkansas' lottery started. D.C. Lottery thefts tied to lax security processes
D.C. officials learned last year that lax enforcement of security procedures made it possible for a handful of contract employees to steal tens of thousands of dollars in lottery tickets and prize money, according to records released this week in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed with the District of Columbia Lottery Charitable Games Control Board. An investigation conducted by Battelle Memorial Institute in August 2006 determined the ticket thefts were most likely com

Legal opinion sinks sale of Colorado Lottery
Dreams of selling off the Colorado Lottery for a fat payoff were discarded like a losing scratch ticket Thursday after state legal experts gave an adverse opinion on the plan. Sen. Chris Romer, D-Denver, said he would not seek a measure that would ask voters to sell a concession contract in the state lottery because he couldn't fix a legal opinion that referred to the proposed sale as the state taking on $3 billion in debt. I may be a freshman, but I'm not that stupid, Romer said.

Indiana Senate approves lottery sell-off
Administration officials worked the back of the Senate chamber Tuesday and managed to secure just enough support to pass Gov. Mitch Daniels' plan to privatize the Hoosier Lottery. The 27-20 vote comes from a GOP-controlled chamber that is far friendlier to the governor's plans than the Democratic-held House, where Senate Bill 577 heads next. The legislation authorizes the state to enter into a contract with a private operator to run the lottery for the next 30 years. In exchange, the st

U.K. National Lottery going on 36-hour break for huge technology upgrade
To me it would like a lot of marketing spin .... they were supposed to convert to their system when they took over (Feb 2024) and are about 18 months late. Were also supposed to bring back the price of Lotto to GBP1 (today it is GBP 2) and to increase contribution to good causes. Until now have done none of that .... we shall see. Also, to say that they have invested already GBP350M in the contract sounds a little stretched. Hopefully someone will want to check them on that. PS
