N.C. Powerball lottery winner had to disconnect phone
You know, I often wonder the same thing myself. It's not like they're reinventing the wheel each time. Why not just start out with a slate of baseline games?
The people they hire to run the games are industry veterans, the contract vendors have been performing the same lotto services for years, and the technology is basically the same for every state. Once the lottery machine is installed in retailer locations, it's just as easy to sell four or five games as it is to sell one game.

PB Challenge 8/5
Unless he had something in writing, how can anyone in their right mind expect more ?
10G is a helluva lot better than ZILCH, after all, it appears he had none of his own money in it.
Just another example of a lousy person crying to the legal system, he should have known this would happen IF a client won.
He should have had a written a contract for all to sign stating he was entitled to X dollars or X percent for any amount over X dollars
won by any of the folks he was buying tickets

N.C. Lottery finally gets a logo
It may not be pretty, but at least the North Carolina Lottery finally has adopted a symbol to represent itself.
The state's lottery logo will reflect the character of the state, not a generic burst of fireworks.
At a commission meeting last week, Tom Shaheen, the lottery's executive director, presented a proposed logo with a flourish, removing a sheet from a logo perched on an easel - but that clearly puzzled some commissioners. After scrapping the failed attempt, officials today approved

Proposal takes aim at Lottery sales pitch to teens
Agree 100%. I don't like to see anyone 18 or 38 killed in action, but if a young man or woman can defend our country, they should have the right to drink, vote, gamble and sign a contract.
I actually don't like any type of lottery advertising or hype. I realize why they do it, but most people who are serious about playing already know there is a lottery in their state and what the jackpots are. I'd rather see the money for advertising going into the pockets of the winners, but that's not goin

Top South Carolina lottery officials are being paid more than those in many other states, according to an audit released Thursday. In its 57-page report, the Legislative Audit Council said the South Carolina Education Lottery is paying its executive director more than at least 16 other states. Iowa Lottery approves self-ban for players
The Iowa Lottery Board voted Tuesday to allow lottery players to self-ban themselves from winning game prizes in order to stem problem gambling. After pondering the self-ban move for a few months, and following announcement of record Iowa Lottery sales of $210 million last year, the board felt the time was right for a self-ban, Iowa Lottery CEO Ed Stanek said. We want to maximize our proceeds for the state with everyone playing in moderation, Stanek said. We don't want our success to be at the

N.C. Lottery commissioner resigns
One of the state's nine lottery commissioners resigned abruptly Tuesday, saying other commitments mean he cannot be effective in overseeing North Carolina's $1.2 billion-a-year gambling operation. The departure comes as the board is set to meet today to consider a new ethics code aimed at ensuring public confidence in the lottery that includes stricter rules than lawmakers put in place.Malachi J. Greene, a former Charlotte City Council member, said in a resignation letter that he doesn't have tim

A special audit of the Illinois Lottery's chief ad agency found the company did not keep adequate records to answer key questions about millions of dollars in payments from the state. However, Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration said Thursday that the special $60,000 audit answered enough of those questions to vindicate the state's support of R.J. Dale Advertising Public Relations. The forensic audit, conducted by Clifton Gunderson LLP of Oak Brook, concluded that there was no evidence of mis
