Brazil lottery cancels GTECH contract over Lottomatica acquisition
GTECH Holdings Corp., which has agreed to be bought by Italy's Lottomatica, said on Tuesday that its contract to provide lottery services to its largest customer, Brazil, will not be renewed.
The contract will expire on Aug. 13, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Its subsidiary, GTECH Brasil Ltda, has provided lottery services to the operator of Brazil's national lottery, Caixa Economica Federal, since 1997.

Sisters' lottery jackpot trial begins today
The lottery numbers that sisters Theresa Sokaitis and Rose Bakaysa had played together for years finally paid off in 2005, yielding a $500,000 Powerball jackpot.

GTECH chosen as preferred bidder for N.Y. Lottery
Italian gaming company Lottomatica SpA said Sunday its wholly-owned subsidiary, GTECH Corporation, has been chosen as the preferred bidder to negotiate a seven-year contract with the New York Lottery to provide new online lottery solutions and services.
In a statement, Lottomatica said the contract can be extended for an additional three years.

Oregon Lottery signs 7-year contract with GTECH
A Rhode Island lottery technology firm has inked a seven-year extension with the state of Oregon, which will include upgraded systems and ongoing services.
GTECH Corp. of Providence reports it has signed a new long-term contract with the Oregon State Lottery for a new online and instant-ticket lottery system, terminals and ongoing services. The seven-year contract is set to start in September 2008, and has options to renew for up to three years.
