N.C. Powerball winner target of $10M lawsuit by local pastor
Any attorneys in the LP Community ??? True or Not True ??? ... In some states, you can't submit a recording as evidence of a verbal contract, if the person being recorded did not know he/she was being recorded.

N.C. Powerball winner target of $10M lawsuit by local pastor
The crazy thing is that he is trying to sue her directly. He was told by her accountant, not her, that the funds could be distributed once the foundation was established, pending information needed from the pastor. I'm assuming the foundation is some sort of donor-advised fund, which allows the executive director, board, staff. etc. to make decisions on behalf of Holmes, but it takes all responsibilities and liabilities from Holmes. If the foundation decides not to distribute the funds, they hav

Lottery officials say identifying winners a must
There are 30 NBA teams and every team has several players making over $1 million a year and several college coaches have 7 figure salaries too. Add to that other sports teams, golfers, team owners and business owners. Some of the people in this forum are gulible enough to believe lottery winners would be targeted more than any other group of millionaires by simple answering a bunch of stupid questions at press conference. I've always wondered what lottery winners have to hide. IMO, the TN win

Judge: Wyoming Lottery lawsuit against man can continue
I have a real problem with this one. On the one hand, this man seems like a anti gambling zealot who wants to warn of problem gambling and that to me is often someone making a moral judgment about the lottery or any form of legalized gambling. These folks ignore all the good that comes from lotteries..not just the winners, but in terms of jobs and the proceeds used for education, infrastructure or whatever. On the other hand, this is a free speech issue. You will always have people critica

Illinois Lottery not paying big winners because state legislature won't pass budget
8/31/15 Excellent point. If they are not going to payout on big prizes , which is selective discrimination, then a lawsuit should be filed by the winners first. If they don't file within say 30 days then hope some folks in IL get a class action suit started against the Ill Lottery commission, for breach of contract.

NY man claims friend broke deal to split lottery prize, files lawsuit
For there to be a contract all parties must contribute for the benefits of everyone. In a pool when each member contribute money to buy the tickets that condition is met. Accord to this guy each guy was to buy any amount of tickets he wanted using his own and if either ever hit for a $100K or more they would split it between them. There is no proof that each contributed equally to this venture or anything, as far as is known the only one to buy a ticket was the winner. If courts allowed p

North Carolina: 6/1 - 6/30/2015
Hey Vergie and Lady A, I noticed that you have the 103 and 603 in your selections today. Of course, those numbers looked familiar to me and I'm sure to many Carolinians this morning after reading about Cam Newton's 5-year $103m contract extension, not to mention his $60m guarantee, even if he's injured tomorrow! Now, that's a different kind of lottery winner! Kudos to Cam! So here's to 603 and 103 combo, mid-day and evening! GL

Sick mother accuses daughter of stealing $1 million lottery prize
Reading your statement, I'm reminded of the mother who presented her son, who'd just signed his first contract to play ball professionally, with a check, apparently to cover the cost of raising him. I guess she didn't think being a mother should come without a monetary benefit. Try and remember that bringing a child into this world does not a parent make. I've seen parents treat their children despicably, and the moment the child says enough's enough, they are labeled as ungrateful. I even kn

Austrailian lottery pool members believe co-worker kept $16.6m jackpot to himself
Are these people nuts? Look, I'm really sorry if they were indeed scammed, but unless they had a contract saying anyone who wins a prize must split it with the group, how can they possibly expect to win their legal case? It's obvious no one has copies of the tickets he purchased for the group. If they did they would have gotten a cut. All he has to say is that the group tickets didn't win but his personal one did. When it comes to a large amount of money, no one should be relying on the honor

Austrailian lottery pool members believe co-worker kept $16.6m jackpot to himself
We have a pool at work when the jackpot reaches $50 million or more. 25 - 40 people usually play. Most of the time I buy the tickets, but sometimes others do. We have a written contract, and we email pictures of the tickets (all Quick Picks) to the distribution list well before the drawing. It's the only fair way. Yeah, I have personal tickets I buy with my own numbers and such. But with a picture of the tickets mailed out to everyone before the drawing happens, no one can claim any of t
